Computing
At Epping Upland we aim to enable our learners to acquire the skills to be independent, confident and competent in a rapidly changing technological world. Children across the school have a clear understanding of how to stay safe online, as e-safety is heavily promoted within the school and in the wider school community. They are encouraged to apply skills learned within Computing lessons in different contexts, enabling them to problem-solve and further consolidate their knowledge.
The National Curriculum for Computing in England aims to ensure that all pupils:
- can understand and apply the principles and concepts of computer science, including data representation;
- can analyse problems and have repeated experience of writing computer programs in order to solve such problems;
- can evaluate and apply information technology;
- are responsible, competent, confident and creative users of information technology.
There is a particular emphasis on the skill of 'coding' and for children to use technology safety, respectfully and responsibly.
